Aldina M. — Enjoying Her Community

Aldina became homeless following a prolonged hospitalization. While she had lived on her own for many years, her illness meant that she could not afford both her medical bills and rent.

After coming to Pine Street’s Yawkey House shelter, Aldina worked with her case manager to secure housing.

Three years later, Aldina continues to enjoy her apartment and community, cooking for her fellow residents and taking pride in having a place of her own.

iCater Job Training Program

Pine Street’s iCater food service program instructor Melanie Cevetello and trainee Philip H. were recently featured on WCVB’s “5 for Good.” 

The segment focused on how iCater helps trainees like Philip learn skills to successfully attain employment as they move toward self-sufficiency.

"The iCater program has definitely boosted my confidence,” says Philip. "Looking back now, I’ve made huge strides in my life."
