Honoring World Humanitarian Day
Today is World Humanitarian Day, a time to highlight and honor humanitarian workers’ efforts to help people affected by crises in our communities and around the world.
The homelessness crisis presents multiple challenges, and Pine Street Inn continues its focus on innovative and data-driven solutions. Nearly 700 employees are committed to working with shelter guests, tenants, trainees and outreach clients to help them rebuild their lives.
Amanda Procter, Pine Street’s clinical supervisor for veterans outreach, reflects on her role in supporting homeless veterans living on the street access life-changing services. "I meet people during the worst time of their lives," Amanda explains. "I show people the love and care that they may never have experienced. People will always remember how you made them feel."
For Amanda, treating people with compassion is essential to help them overcome the challenges they face. On World Humanitarian Day, Pine Street thanks our community of staff, supporters and partners for their compassion as we work to end homelessness.
