The largest shelter and resource in New England for women experiencing homelessness
The Women's Inn is marking 40 years of impact helping vulnerable women. Through the 1970s, homelessness was on the rise, and with no safe place for women to go, some dressed as men to access shelter for the night.
In 1980, when we moved to our current location at 444 Harrison Avenue, we established the Women's Inn to meet the need, starting with 50 emergency shelter beds for women and adding an additional 70 beds over the years. Today, the Women's Inn continues to be the largest nonprofit shelter and resource in New England for women experiencing homelessness.
