Kelli's Boston Marathon Fundraiser for Pine Street Inn
Hi Friends and Family!
I'll be running the Boston Marathon for the first time this year on April 17! Not only that, I have the privilege of running in support of Pine Street Inn, meaning I'll be doing a lot of fundraising to benefit the Inn as I prepare for Boston.
Pine Street Inn is an organization that has been working to end homelessness in New England since 1969. PSI serves about 1,900 individuals daily, providing emergency food and shelter, job training and placement, permanent supportive housing, and connection to mental health and substance use services. Since moving to the South End neighborhood of Boston, I've been working with Pine Street's Innbassadors to fundraise for and volunteer at Pine Street Inn. I've seen firsthand the impact PSI makes on a daily basis toward ending homelessness in the greater Boston area. I'm excited to be able to support PSI by running the Boston Marathon. I couldn't do it without your help, so I'm asking for your contribution in my fundraising efforts to support Pine Street Inn.
This is a cause close to my heart for many reasons. Many of the people I work with on a daily basis either have or currently struggle with homelessness. It's very difficult to obtain necessary healthcare, cope with disabilities, and/or obtain a stable job without having your most basic needs met. PSI and the resources it provides helps homeless men and women in our area overcome these barriers. These resources are costly and depend a lot on the compassion, involvement, and generosity of the community, which is why I'm asking for your help.
I'll be running the marathon thanks to Senator Sonia Chang-Diaz, a passionate advocate of the issues facing homeless men and women in many of Boston's neighborhoods, including Pine Street's (and my) home, the South End. For me, the marathon brings about a sense of unity and compassion among Bostonians and it perfectly exemplifies the committment we have to protecting the health, safety, and rights of everyone. I couldn't think of an organization that reflects these values more clearly and I'm lucky to be able to contribute to it's efforts in this way. I can't do it alone, and I'm incredibly fortunate to have such wonderful friends and family that I can turn to for support.
I'm thrilled to say that 100% of the donations received will go directly to Pine Street Inn. The money I raise would make such a difference and could go toward the 2,000 meals prepared per day, to new permanent supportive housing facilities, toward job training for about 200 individuals per year or toward street outreach to get homeless men and women off the streets in these cold winter months. I'd be so grateful for any amount of financial and moral support you can provide and will be thinking of you and the residents of PSI for every mile from Hopkinton to Boylston St.
